Robert Cowell Facilities

Mubashar

mubashar

Ali came to us from J.Gosden mid-way through last year. Ali's father is a prominent trainer in his homeland, Pakistan.
Naturally being from that background he rides well and is very kind around the horses.

Rebecca - Rider

Rebecca Caudillo

Beccy joined us having had a decent grounding with Micheal Bell and a stint breaking in yearlings for Herringswell Manor Farm. She had already ridden plenty of work on good horses and therefore her knowledge is invalueable. Beccy has been here over 3 years now and was fortunate enough to spend 2 months in Dubai last year overseeing the preparation of Forever Phoenix. The mares success in Dubai is testament to the dedication and hard work that she put in.
Since Dubai, Beccy has been blessed with a beautiful daughter and now that she is once again fit she is hoping that any day soon a licence to ride as an amateur will pop through her letter box.

Update: Beccy has now been granted her licence and should be riding throughout the remainder of the year.

Martin - Groom

Martin Gleeson

Martin came to us way back in early 2001 and is now one of our most senior members of staff. Having had many years experience with numerous trainers including the late Alec Stewart, Martin is an important cog in the system. He can identify problems and most importantly when I am away I know the ship will stay afloat.
Martin lives on site and therefore is on hand if there are any emergencies. His quick wit and humour keep everyone entertained, including myself, and we do need it when its wet, windy and cold.

Alan - Travelling Head Man

Alan Scott

When I first began training back in late 1997, Alan was one of my first employees. Having had a career managing a section of a large department store, he retired. Then deciding that sitting at home doing nothing was not for him he began working as a groom.
Alan realised very quickly that even this exciting new venture hit its pitfalls - so after many swollen arms, legs, fingers through being bitten, the last straw came when he was pinned for 20 minutes at the back of a stable by Silvering who must have thought he was incredibly tasty. Alan has since been our Travelling Head Man and his job entails not only getting the horses to the races safely but also keeping all the equipment clean and safe.

Daniel

Kyly Tanton

Daniel hails from Slovakia. He arrived one morning looking for a job around the end of summer 2007 without speaking one word of English.
He has worked hard in that sphere and can now communicate well with everybody. Daniel works as a yardman and often goes racing.

David - Vet

The Stables

We have used the Newmarket based Greenwood / Ellis for many years now. David, who recently became a partner, is our regular vet and knows each of our horses as individuals. We work well together and have a mutual understanding regarding the priority of each horse.
Their hospital is just a few miles from the yard and has state of the art facilities comprising two radiographic suites, nuclear scintigraphy and units of ultrasonography, videoendoscopy and Nd:YAG laser.
All specialist surgery is also carried out at the hospital.

Dermot - Blacksmith

The Stables

Dermot has been self-employed now for 12 years having served his apprenticeship with Phil Brook. Dermot is responsible for all the horses in training with C.Wall + M.Bell. It was with the latter that sealed one of his most memorable moments when Motivator won the Derby.
In total Dermot has approximately 160 horses in his care and if he manages to have a spare few seconds he tends to call on some local studs to trim their stock ie mares, foals etc. He luckily has 2 good apprentices who help out with the busy schedule as well as one loyal member "Lofty".

Tanbir

Tanbir

Tanbir Alam is our newest recruit who has plied his trade in the Middle East.
Originally from India, Alam has very good knowledge of the English language and rides well.
