2010 – We are very excited about this coming season as we stable five horses rated over 100. Amongst the familiar names including the stable stalwart Canadian Danehill, we have added some very exciting prospects in the older horse department. We shall have almost ten unexposed three year olds and seven to eight two year olds which are a mixture of graduates from Keeneland/Tattersalls and homebreds.
The yard sends out a steady stream of winners annually from horses that are either relatively inexpensive or cast-offs.
Robert believes that most horses, once racing, tend to keep themselves reasonably fit so his job is to maintain their enthusiasm and health.
His facility has a dedicated and highly skillful team working along side him which is paramount to maintain such high standards.
Robert, upon completion of his A levels at school in Norfolk, immediately began work in Newmarket for trainer Gavin Pritchard-Gordon. Whilst working there he was keen to ride in races so took out a licence and promptly rode a winner at Brighton on his second attempt. Robert Cowell has a family which is steeped in history with Robert's father having owned, bred and raced horses since early 1960.
Welcome to the new Robert Cowell Racing website for 2009. We have completely updated the site with a fresh new look and added some great features! For clients, we have added the option for you to choose to be sent a mobile phone text message upon each update made to your account on the progress of your horses training. We are proud to say this is a first for racehorse trainers websites!
We have two on their way to Lingfield for this afternoons meeting. First up, we have Pleasant Humor, an American bred, two-year-old, chestnut colt brought last Autumn at the Keenland sales, this is his first run of his career and first time at the races, so he may need this opportunity to take the experience all in. Next up we....
2009 - 16 winners was our final tally for the season but we managed to win better graded races hence our prize money was well up on last year. All the staff have done a wonderful job in achieving practically our best year. In addition to our GB season we had a few group placed horses abroad in France.
Amongst the highlights was High Spice winning first time out at Newmarket on Guineas day. Biniou winning three out of four races and beginning to look like a serious group horse was another highlight of 2009 but he also provided us with our worst moment when he had to be tragically put down. Time is good healer, onwards and upwards.
